               Black Excellence Plan

At DELTA High School, our mission is to create an inclusive learning environment where Black students flourish academically, nurture their social-emotional well-being, and prepare for future success in higher education and beyond. Guided by the principles of the DPS Black Excellence Resolution, we celebrate diversity, dismantle barriers, and uphold accountability for the achievement of all students. Since our establishment in 2017, we've been dedicated to recognizing and addressing the unique needs of our Black students, steadfastly striving to establish and enhance effective systems and processes that promote and uphold Black excellence

  • At DELTA, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for all students, including our Black community. Our commitment is reflected in various student clubs and initiatives, such as the "Black Male Group," which convenes weekly to nurture the social-emotional well-being of Black students and offer enriching educational opportunities.
  • In the classroom, we actively integrate discussions on social justice during Advisement time and provide coursework like Ethnic Studies to broaden perspectives and promote inclusivity.
  • We prioritize open communication with Black families, seeking to cultivate trust and address their unique needs effectively. Events like Family Nights serve as platforms for amplifying Black family voices, ensuring their input shapes our school's decisions.
  • Our focus extends beyond mere academic success; we set ambitious targets for academic growth and equip students with resources for their journey toward college and career readiness.
  • For our staff, we emphasize continuous professional development aimed at enhancing culturally responsive teaching practices. By investing in our educators, we strengthen our ability to create inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive.
  • At DELTA, we are committed to continuous improvement, with specific goals centered around fostering a sense of belonging for Black students and families. Through rigorous data analysis, we address achievement gaps head-on, providing ongoing support to our staff as we strive for excellence in all that we do.
